tom-jerry-a-nutcracker-taleThey also informed now-a-days there are lots violence in cartoon which has a bad effect for children. Normally kids like violent cartoons. Most of the cartoon are based on fighting, jumping, kicking, killing etc. Some cartoons also show kissing scene. Normally when kids see this type of scene they enjoy a lot. Because when they see hero against the villain and fighting they eagerly wait for the hero to be the winner. In that time kids also cheer the hero. Normally most of the kids like violent scene. For example-when Jerry is fighting with Tom kids like it. Then they like Spiderman who can jump from here and there, and also climb any high wall, which is very risk for children. Because sometimes to become a Spiderman kids jump from a high place like from a chair or bed which is very bad and sometimes they get hurt. There is also the case of some kids fighting with their little siblings. Kids don’t understand that if he or she fighting or kicking with their siblings then they can be injured. Actually they want to be Jerry, a Superman, Poke man, Pappy, Ninja Hatari etc. They just want to apply the fighting or other violent character with other kids which is very dangerous. Children also try to talk in real life as a cartoon character.

kids-study-cartoonThough we know cartoon is very interesting entertainment for the children but when I studied some journals and research reports on this topic, I came to know that there are some negative influence in television cartoon which impact is very bad for the children to build up their behavior. Research strand: Children who consume high levels of media violence are more likely to be aggressive in the real world.

In 1956, researchers took to the laboratory to compare the behavior of 24 children watching TV. Half watched a violent episode of the cartoon Woody Woodpecker, and the other 12 watched the non-violent cartoon The Little Red Hen. During play afterwards, the researchers observed that the children who watched the violent cartoon were much more likely to hit other children and break toys.

In 1963, professors A. Badura, D. Ross and S.A. Ross studied the effect of exposure to real-world violence, television violence, and cartoon violence. They divided 100 preschool children into four groups. The first group watched a real person shout insults at an inflatable doll while hitting it with a mallet. The second group watched the incident on television. The third watched a cartoon version of the same scene, and the fourth watched nothing. Tom Van der Voort studied 314 children aged nine through twelve in 1986. He found that although children can easily distinguish cartoons, westerns and spy thrillers from reality, they often confuse realistic programmes with the real world. When they are unable to integrate the violence in these shows because they can’t follow the plot, they are much more likely to become anxious. This is particularly problematic because the children reported that they prefer realistic programmers, which they equate with fun and excitement. http://www.media-awareness.ca/english/issues/violence/effects_media_violence.cfm

Children have become much more interested in cartoons over many years and it has become a primary action to some lives.  Typically, children begin watching cartoons on television at an early age of six months, and by the age two or three children become enthusiastic viewers.

C.J. Choma,Stevie Hossler.Robert Leu.Divia NelsonShawnte Ray.Ben Wilcox.Brandon Ybarra TCOM 103 Dr. Louisa Ha November 15, 2004 mentioned in these articles about the effect of cartoon that The Children who watch too much cartoons on television are more likely to have mental and emotional problems, along with brain and eye injuries and unexpectedly the risk of a physical problem increases. They also mentioned that cartoons bad impact increased risk in child safety Today in many children’s cartoon’s you see cartoon characters jumping, diving, and falling from very high heights, then landing without being harmed.

some important message

Posted by shahriar08 on November 20, 2008

Yes it’s true that there are some cartoons which give to the kids some important message .For example—Meena cartoon. But most of the children want to watch colorful; funny which is telecast over different cartoon channel.Todays generation is very much modern. So they just want to see cable television. Bad impact of cartoon makes kids behavior rude, naughty, and aggressive. Many manners they do not want to follow. They just want to live in their cartoon life and behave like a cartoon character with everyone which is not good for their grown up.

It’s even rare now to find a children’s cartoon that does not illustrate some type of violence or comedic aggression.  What we do not realize though, is that it is the children that are ending up with problems.  Unlike most rational, educated adults, many children are gradually beginning to accept violence as a way to solve problems and are imitating what they observe on television.  These children do not understand that the violent cartoon is shown strictly because the public wants to see it. They cannot grasp the meaning of “ratings” and “entertainment” as well as adults can. All they know is, “if the TV portrays violence as cool, then it must be cool!” Children often do not realize that it hurts to hit someone else because they see it all the time on TV. Everyday a cartoon character is beat up, injured, or killed.

Cartoons were now seen as educational tools

Posted by shahriar08 on November 20, 2008

Cartoons were now seen as educational tools, not just entertainment. Though cartoon is now a part of education tools. So cartoon, stories should come under some restriction. For example-Spiderman which is very popular cartoon to our kids. But Spiderman cartoon mentioning “Death”, “Die”, “Kill” or other words with a strong negative meaning, which is very bad for our kids. Though are kids are small they do not understand the real things.Thats why they want to try those activities in their real life which is very dangerous. In this generation, cable

TV is very popular. Every family have cable channel. There are lots of cartoon based channel. Like-Cartoon Network (CN), Nick channel etc.Our kids normally watch those channels all the time because they get funny or

comedy things over there. Here one thing is important most of the audience of TV cartoon is kids, whose de

velopment is growing day by day if those kids watching this type of activities of cartoon then their future life will be harmful.Beacuse they are kids they do not understand what is right and what is wrong, what is real ,what is unreal. They just watch the cartoon and want to apply those activities in real life. Here another thing is important that when they watch cartoon their parents are not all the time with them but who could tell them it’s not real. That is why when they watch violent scenes in the cartoon they just think it can be happen in real life, which is really bad.
